A transparency score to improve

Jette has 54,000 inhabitants and is led by Claire Vandevivere (Les Engagés) with a renewed Engagés-MR-Ecolo coalition. The municipality has the lowest transparency score among the 19 communes.

The budget is published online and the mandate registry is accessible via the transparency page (attendance, remunerations). However, council minutes are only partially available, the livestream is being set up following a citizen petition (300+ signatures), and there is no Open Data portal or confirmed participation platform.

The livestream project

A citizen petition with over 300 signatures pushed the municipality to announce that council sessions would be livestreamed. Deployment is underway.

Recent developments

The Region issued a formal notice to Jette regarding the development of Avenue Broustin, a key structural road. The green parking zone has been extended to new neighbourhoods since February 2026.

Jette intervenes in two proceedings against RNP 07L (26 August 2026)

On the evening of Wednesday 26 August 2026, the municipality announced in a statement that it is intervening in two ongoing proceedings against the RNP 07L flight path: the environmental cessation action brought in 2018 by the Brussels Region, and the challenge to Brussels Airport's environmental permit.

This executes the motion adopted on 4 March 2026 by the municipal council, carried by the Ecolo-Groen, LBJette and MR-VLD majority, which already committed the commune to two legal actions. Jette thereby joins Schaerbeek, Evere, Berchem-Sainte-Agathe and, on the Flemish side, Lennik.

It is the substance of its position that sets Jette apart. The municipality writes that "simply scrapping RNP07 cannot on its own constitute a solution", since returning to the VOR07 path would displace the nuisance rather than remove it. It calls instead for a cap limiting landings over the north-western municipalities, together with noise-level and timing restrictions.
